Miami Yacht Charter FAQ
Planning a private yacht charter in Miami starts with a clear reservation. Here is how prices, payments, date changes and weather work when you book with OREA Miami. The full rules are in our Terms of Service & Charter Booking Policy.
What is included in the price?
Our prices are all-inclusive. Unless your written quote expressly says otherwise, every charter price includes the yacht, a licensed captain and crew (with a steward or stewardess where listed for your yacht; your quote confirms the crew), fuel, soft drinks, the standard crew gratuity and taxes. Standard docking and cleaning are included too. Additional tips for great service are always welcome and entirely at your discretion. Optional extras, such as catering, decorations, transfers, a DJ or a photographer, are quoted separately and added only if you approve them.
Do I need to tip the crew?
No. The standard crew gratuity is already included in your price. Additional tips for great service are always welcome and entirely at your discretion.
How much do I pay to reserve?
50% when you confirm your reservation, and the remaining 50% no later than seven calendar days before departure. If you book within seven days of departure, full payment is due at booking. Your written confirmation lists the exact deadline and what is included.
Can I get a refund if I cancel?
No. Customer cancellations and no-shows are non-refundable, whatever the reason, unless the law requires a refund or your written booking confirmation says otherwise. If your plans change, you may be able to move your charter to another date (see below).
Can I change my charter date?
Yes, once. Contact us in writing at least seven calendar days before departure. The new date depends on yacht and crew availability and must be within 12 months of your original date. Your payments carry forward, your price stays the same for the same yacht, duration and services, and there is no rescheduling fee. Requests made later than seven days before departure are considered individually but are not guaranteed.
What if it rains?
Your charter moves to another available date if the captain decides conditions are unsafe, or if significant rain is forecast during your charter hours. Light rain, passing showers or cloudy skies alone don't qualify. Your payment moves with your booking to the new date. If significant rain is forecast, contact us from the day before departure; we review the local hourly forecast with the operator and confirm any change in writing. The new date must be within 12 months, your price stays the same and there is no rescheduling fee.
What if it is cloudy?
Your charter moves to another available date if the captain decides conditions are unsafe, or if significant rain is forecast during your charter hours. Light rain, passing showers or cloudy skies alone don't qualify. Your payment moves with your booking to the new date.
Who decides whether it is safe to sail?
The captain has the final decision on safety. Your charter moves to another available date if the captain decides conditions are unsafe, or if significant rain is forecast during your charter hours. Light rain, passing showers or cloudy skies alone don't qualify. Your payment moves with your booking to the new date. If the captain shortens a charter for safety after departure, that time is not refunded, but we will talk to the operator about whether a make-up charter is possible.
Is OREA Miami the yacht operator?
No. OREA Miami is a Miami yacht concierge. We arrange private charters with independent, licensed vessel owners and operators, who operate the yachts and crew. The operators are responsible for the yacht, the captain and crew, and safety on board. Every charter is crewed with a licensed captain; we do not offer bareboat charters. We stay your point of contact from your first message until you are back at the dock.
How many guests can come?
It depends on the yacht. Your confirmation states the approved number, and everyone counts, including children. Please tell us your full party size before booking. The person who books agrees to share our terms and onboard rules with every guest and is responsible for the group's conduct on board.
Can we drink alcohol on board?
Guests aged 21 and over may drink alcohol, subject to the yacht's rules. The captain and crew may limit or refuse alcohol service for safety. Guests who have been drinking may not be allowed to swim or use water toys.
Can we swim and use the water toys?
Yes, when the captain approves and conditions allow. Swimming and water toys carry natural risks, so please follow the crew's instructions. There is no lifeguard on board.
Are pets allowed?
Pets need advance approval from the yacht owner. Please tell us before booking.
Can we smoke or bring red wine?
No. Smoking (including vaping) and red wine are not permitted on board, to protect the yacht's interior and keep everyone comfortable. An exception is possible only if OREA Miami confirms it in writing when you book, after checking with the yacht owner.
Is there a damage deposit?
Some yachts may require a refundable security deposit or a card authorization hold. If so, the amount, how deductions work and when it is released are confirmed before you pay. It is separate from the 50% booking payment.
What if our group arrives late?
Late arrival is not a no-show, but your charter still ends at the scheduled return time, so the late time is deducted from your charter, with no extension, credit or refund for the lost time. Please let us know as soon as possible if you are running late. If the yacht and crew are available, we and the operator may try to arrange extra time at an agreed additional price, but this is not guaranteed.
What is a no-show?
A no-show is only when you and your guests do not show up at all during the scheduled charter window and do not board before it ends. A no-show is treated like a cancellation: no refund, credit or rescheduling, unless the law requires otherwise.
Where do we depart from?
It depends on the yacht. OREA Miami confirms the exact marina address and arrival instructions before your charter.
Do you offer refunds?
We do not offer cash refunds, except where the law requires one. A weather-affected booking moves to another available date with your payments carried forward; it does not become a separate credit or a cash refund. If your yacht becomes unavailable and no reasonable alternative is accepted, you receive a full charter credit for the amount paid, valid 12 months from issue, usable on any OREA Miami yacht and transferable. See Terms, Sections 7 and 8.
What if I have a problem with a charge?
Please contact us first at office@oreamiami.com with your reservation reference, so we can review it and try to resolve it quickly.
When do I accept the terms?
Sending us an inquiry does not commit you to anything. We first confirm in writing that your yacht is available; no payment is requested before that. We then send you the quote and a booking contract that includes our Terms and any yacht-specific terms. You accept by signing it, before paying the booking payment.
How do I contact you?
